Join us on December 20th for a seasonal good time with Dreama Belle! This event is family-friendly and free to attend.
LOVING MYSELF TOO is a free, cooperative workshop where we will be identifying the way we- and others- criticize ourselves; and instead, we will choose to affirm ourselves as human beings. We will have suggestions of ways we can nurture ourselves in healthy ways, both alone and with others, and take care of ourselves in a stressful world!
We will be making DIY valentines with our words of love to ourselves for each participant to take home.
If you have favorite photographs, paper, glitter, artsy pinking shears, markers, stickers or whatever- bring them! Swap and talk with your fellow PFLAG folks about what we have to be proud of, to love, and who we want to be. Since we will be discussing negative self-talk, please use your own best judgement as to your comfort in this space!
This workshop will be hosted by myself (Emil!) a Floyd PFLAG member.
Due to weather, the parade is rescheduled for the 8th of December. Thank you for your understanding!
Contact Jim for further details.
Meet in the Mabry Funeral Home parking lot (367 S Locust St) at 2:30 PM, Sunday, December 1st in Downtown Floyd! Make a poster and dress as your gift: love at home, respect, joy, equality, gratitude, faithfulness, or whatever you please!
We hope to see you there!

EDIT 12/4/19: Due to the weather, the parade date has been moved to the 8th. Thank you for your understanding!
Hello everyone, and happy fall! This Tuesday (11/12/19) we’re going to be hosting a free potluck at our usual meeting location! Please bring a dish to share with a list of the ingredients for those who may attend with allergies. Tableware will be provided, as will coffee and tea to go with our dinner. You can get in touch with us and say you’re coming through the facebook event at this link.
Individual yearly memberships for Floyd PFLAG can be purchased at a rate of $15 per person, or $30 per household- the purpose of our membership drive is to help provide memberships for folks in our community who can’t afford them, but would like to be an official member! (Of course, you don’t have to be an official member of PFLAG to come to our meetings or to work with us- but it does help us!) We hope to see you there!
This past FloydPRIDE was wonderful, and are so proud to be featured in The Floyd Press (the expanded article is here!) We had an awesome time, and from here, we intend to keep moving forward. We are so grateful to everyone who came out to support us on our ongoing effort for visibility, commemoration, and celebration. It’s all of our hopes to build an open, respectful space for LGBT+ folks and their allies in Floyd, and with that in mind, we have a few new events put forth for the coming months!
First, we’re going to be setting both a personal and household rate for official membership in PFLAG. While membership is not required to take part in our events or attend our meetings, it helps to boost our chapter and fund important things for everyone (member or not) to take part in!
In November, we’ll be planning a potluck and membership drive for anyone who wants to purchase a personal membership or to pay it forward for anyone who can’t: donation is not required to attend, but is encouraged! In December, we have a (tentative) LGBT+ documentary screening and popcorn sales (we’ve got our fingers crossed on the location!) and in January, we’ll have our PFLAG officer elections.
This will all be in addition to upcoming events that arise (and will be advertised here on this site and/or on Facebook-) and any ideas you may have, which can be quickly submitted to us with our new google form tab at the far right side of the banner! Today is the first day this feature is live, and hopefully, it will make communications to PFLAG much quicker and more elegant. Each month, we’ll review the questions and suggestions from the inbox at our meetings, so come if you have an idea you’re passionate about!
Warm wishes to you all,
– Emil Jude
